Rhetoric Invisalign AD encounter
Invisalign
This Ad was trying to convince people to get Invisalign. It was very bright and colorful which caught my attention. It made me more interested and because of that there’s more of a chance I’d actually watch and listen to it where as other, more dull Ads I would try to skip through as fast as I can. In the advertisement, the Subject is that you should get Invisalign over other teeth straightening techniques such as braces. The Occasion is located in a teen boys bedroom where he’s playing on the computer. It’s showing that it’s more modern and in the present by the use of technology and the clothing the boy is dressed in. This is directed to more of a teen Audience. This Ad appeals to teens more than adults in many ways. For example, teens are more likely to get braces than adults so it would make sense for the Ad to appeal to teens. Also, more teens use technology and this way they’re better able to connect to the Ad.
Their main Purpose is to show that Invisalign is cool and that Invisalign understands the teens and wants to keep up with the “trends”. It’s showing that just because you have braces doesn’t mean they should be restricting. Invisalign made a better alternative that does the same job but now your not limited to certain foods and feel like your missing out on things. The Speaker is less of an individual but instead it’s the story line. The story line convincing you to get the product even without someone telling you up front that you need to get it. In fact, this Ad doesn’t even use words, just music, which means the story line is doing a good job of persuading people to get Invisalign. The Tone is very pathos and the Ad is telling a story about a boy and all the adventures he goes on because he had the product their trying to sell. Along with that, the story has many hyperboles. For example, it showed the boy meeting monsters which wouldn’t happen in real life. It’s over dramatic and demonstrates that there’s endless possibilities when you have Invisalign.
Would you say that these ads could also be appealing to the credibility of the company because they are the ones who created and paid for this ad?
ReplyDeleteI think it was interesting that you noted the speaker is not a singular entity, but the story line as a whole! Interesting!
ReplyDeleteI really like this blog post! First of all, I like that you chose an ad that wasn’t related to the upcoming presidential debate, because obviously that is a prevalent topic right now. You were very descriptive in your analysis of this ad! I really like how you connected the story line of this ad to life today, because I do think that by using technology in the ad, it makes the product more appealing to viewers, since technology is a big part of our world. Very well done!
ReplyDeleteI really like your post! First of all, I like that you chose an ad that wasn’t related to the presidential debate, because obviously that is a prevalent topic right now, and most people did that. You were also very descriptive with your analysis of this ad! I also liked how you connected this ad to life today, because technology is a big part of our world today, and it’s true that by including it in the story line of this ad, the product becomes more appealing to viewers. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteI thought this was an especially interesting rhetoric because it's advertising health services rather than things such as cars. I like how you went into detail about the SOAPStone!
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you talked about the colors of the ad and used the vocabulary that we learned.
